Bell Ringer: Read the following article and identify the independent variable, dependent variable, controlled variable, and control.
Next, we decided to recreate this experiment.  In our notebooks we wrote the question "Do microwaves kill bacteria?"  and then we wrote our procedures.  Get one totinos pepperoni pizza and let it sit out for 3 hours.  Then use a sterile swab to rub surface of the pizza and inoculate a sterile agar plate.  We will do 2 controls per biology class (6 total).  Next, microwave the pizza for 30 seconds and reswab the pizza and inoculate 2 new plates.  Repeat at 1 min and 1.5 minute intervals.  Seal agar plates with tape and place in a warm environment.  We will gather data over the next 2-3 class periods.  Next we had science fair interviews and students met with me individually to discuss their science project.  Your 3 ideas are due next class period!!!!  They are worth 30 points and they will be going on the 1st term grade!!!!
