August 21/24

1) First students filled out "About Me" papers and they also received their file folders.  Please get both of these from me when you return.

2) Next, we talked about microscopes and we did a microscope lab where we compared 3 different ponds.  Come to Falcon Time or after school to make up.

First Day of School!

Today we played get to know you games and went over my disclosure and iPad contracts.  Be sure to either sign my disclosure online or get a paper copy from me.  You will also need to get a copy of the iPad contract and sign it for me too.

Honors Biology Project List-I have 2 sections of honors biology, but any student can earn honors credit if you complete all of the honors projects. If you think you want to earn honors credit, but stay in your regular class talk with me and I can give you more information.

Mr. McBride's Insect Tips

Here are some good locations to find a lot of insects. One good thing to do is pull up rocks and logs and look under them, you will find more insects this way then just looking for flying insects. If you are catching butterflies avoid touching the wings you will leave finger prints on your specimens. The best way to store butterflies is in wax paper envelopes, which you can make out of  wax paper or use regular envelopes and line the inside with wax paper.

There are a lot of flowers which means flying insects bring a bug net
South Fork Park

You will find more things in the woods around the park than in the park.

Rock Canyon

You can find termites under rocks and logs around the amphitheater

Provo Canyon

Most of the parks are good places just remember in the woods is better then on the park itself

Welcome Back to School!

I am excited for the new school year.  I love biology and I love teaching and I can't wait to meet all of you.  This is my class blog and this is where you will come to retake tests and quizzes, find study helps, or find out what you missed when you are absent.
